Mini house tour!

I"ve been meaning to post a few pics of the new hardwood floors and now that our new Windy Peak office is almost finished I figured I would snap that and the rest of the downstairs too. 

I loooove the floors. It made our house feel so open and flow together so much better. My dad, Austin and I did it all ourselves. It wasn't hard really, just super time consuming and labor intensive. 

 We got a new sectional and rug in the den so here are the photos of the new den:

We moved all of our dining room furniture (which I loved so much, but I know I will have it again one day) to my Dad's house so now we have space to work. This was desperately needed. It's coming together well. We are about to order a huge 30x40 canvas wrap of Molly to go over the desk.

And the kitchen and breakfast area. No new changes here, just the floors. This is pretty much the whole downstairs of our house, minus the hallway and powder room. 

I finally feel like my house is coming back together after almost 2 months of crazy! Although because the nursery is still a work in progress the garage still looks like a work shop. I will post pictures of the new upstairs rooms as soon as they are finished!

Look at Room

This post is kind of old, but I figured I would share anyway.

I finally got around to adding a little decor to our dining room - the "look at room" as Aus calls it.  I painted our dining room in a deep eggplant color, called Sugar Plum, when we first moved in our house and totally fell in love.  It is my absolute favorite paint in our whole house, and after painting it there, I just had to use it again for our downstairs half bath.  I was at Z-gallerie and found these dinner plates that matched the paint to a T.  I played with a few different placemates and napkins, and this is what I came up with:

Z-gallerie is definitely my favorite home store in Raleigh. If you've never been, I highly suggest you check it out.  The store is near Triangle Town Center, about 20 minutes from our house and has ahhhmaazing home accessories and furniture.

Saturday fun at the Green house!

Saturday night Austin's parents came down to spend the night with us and take Abi to see Madagascar at the Durham Performing Arts Center. Since they all had such a good time Austin and I are now making plans to see a play this spring.  It is such a nice theater, and very special to us as it was where our Rehearsal Dinner took place the night before our wedding. We must take advantage of this very soon!

Later that night Austin and I cooked dinner.  We had steaks, rosemary and garlic red skin potatoes, salad and apple pie (and lots of wine)! I forgot to take pictures of most of the food, but I did get some shots of my delicious pie!  You should all try this one - much better than ordinary apple pie. 

I got so excited when the pie was finished I forgot to take a picture!  This is what we had after the four of us devoured it! 

Carmel Crunch Apple Pie

1 deep dish pie crust (I used the peel out pie crust by Pillsbury found where the biscuits and all are)

24 caramels

2 T water

4 cups apples, sliced and peeled (I used Honey Crisp)

3/4 c. flour

1/3 c. sugar

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/3 c. margarine

1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Melt caramels with water in heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth.  Spoon apples into crust.  Top with caramel sauce.  Mix flour, sugar and cinnamon.  Cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in walnuts. Sprinkle over apples. Bake in 375 degree oven for 40 to 45 minuets or until apples are tender.

 Steaks before they went on the grill.  Austin makes THE best steak marinades!
