JAG is 2 months old!

James turned 2 months old on Father's Day. We had his 2 month well visit today at the doctor so now I can record all of his numbers. I can't believe how fast this is all going...you people weren't kidding when you said it goes by fast!

Weight: 13 lbs 12 oz! He is up exactly 5 pounds from his birth weight. His weight was in the 85% and his length, 23 inches, was in the 50%. He is growing perfectly and that is so reassuring to hear!

Health: He had his 2 month check up today and everything was great. The doctor said he was completely healthy and checked out just like he should. He also got 5 vaccines (3 shots) and it was absolutely awful. I came straight home and gave him Tylenol and he has seemed pretty content thank goodness.
Sleep: Sleep is SO great. At least I think so! James has been sleeping from about 8/9pm to 4am the past week. Last night he went from 8:30pm all the way to 6:00am! Happy Mama!! I couldn't believe it. We have definitely stopped the 1am feed and it seems we are getting rid of the 3am/4am feed too. He is doing so well and I am so proud of him! Does this mean it's time to transition him to his crib? :(
*The only con to this long sleep stretch, I wake up in tons of pain and soaked in milk!*

Clothes:  He is mostly wearing 0-3 month and 3 month clothing. Most outfits are 3 months although he can get in some 6 month outfits, all depending on the brand. Baby sizes are COMPLETE horse shit in my opinion. He literally wore a Sarah Louise newborn little number today and tomorrow I"ll put him in a 6 month getup. It ALL depends on who makes it so I'm learning what size he wears and how all these brands run (big or small). 'tis fun.

Social: His little personality is coming through and he is so much fun! He loves to smile and laugh, especially in the mornings. Making him laugh is seriously the sweetest thing ever. He is cooing and gabbing and we talk all day long!

Diet: Almost all breast milk, woohoo! He nurses most of the time so  I don't really know how much he is drinking. When I pump and bottle feed him or supplement him when I'm away from him he gets 3-4 ounces about every 3 hours. He is doing great and I am proud we've made it 2 months still breast feeding.  It is by far the hardest part about taking care of a newborn in my opinion, but I sure do love it.

Baby Gear Love: LOVE the Rock-N-Play sleeper. Definitely our favorite thing. He sleeps so well at night and naps in it during the day. I love the bouncy seat for when  I'm doing work and need to put him down. Still love the Mamaroo but I'm not 100% sure it's worth the hefty price tag. Love the BOB, we use that a ton. I'm going to do a post on our must haves for the first 2 months and also the things we could of saved our money on and gone without.

Crying: Pretty much only cries when he's hungry or sleepy. He has a hungry cry and an I'm sleepy help-me-go-to-sleep cry. He also has started fussing randomly when I put him down...like he just wants to be held.

Likes: Cuddling! Being swaddled. Boobs! Bath time! Leg and arm massages! Smiling at his mom and dad!

Dislikes: Rub downs with lotion, clothing going over his head, getting in the car seat (although he seems to be liking it better more and more) and being too hot.

Postpartum: I feel great but I don't look great. I have to get my butt in gear and lose this weight. Ugh. It is SLOWLY coming off! Other than that I feel like I'm back to my old self and my energy level is great. Even with the lack of sleep I feel pretty good. I do think maternity leave from work should be longer than 12 weeks...more like 12 months!

Milestones: His head control is really good. He still needs support but he can sit up against something really well. He rolled over when we were at the beach, too! I feel like I hardly ever put him down on the floor long enough to roll over. I need to work on that!

I did a little better taking pictures with my camera as opposed to my phone this month. I still wish I pulled it out everyday though!

  1. He is just too cute! I'm so jealous he's laughing. H is thisclose, but still hasn't laughed yet. He's usually very serious.
For what it's worth - I'm awful at putting him down long enough to try to roll over too. They're just so darn snuggly! LOL

  2. I love the picture of him fussing. Awful, I know, but pouty faces are so adorable. & you can tell he's growing in those cute little cheeks!
